This Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG Black Series belongs to a series of just 350 units, exactly half of which were sold in the USA, and has around 6,000 km (3,730 miles) on the odo, making it particularly desirable for collectors. The bidding is at $226,000 right now.
The Black Series trim came with numerous chassis improvements, including a widened track. It also wore a complex body kit consisting of flared wheel arches, a pop-up rear wing, new bumpers and gill-like air vents in the fenders. To minimize weight, the company used carbon fiber for some of the parts.
Power came from a six-liter turbocharged V12 rated at 670 PS (661 hp / 493 kW) and 1,000 Nm (738 lb-ft) of torque. A five-speed automatic transmission carried the momentum to the wheels through an LSD.
This particular example was optioned with Bi-Xenon headlamps, 19-inch wheels at the front and 20-inch ones at the rear, adjustable suspension, a two-zone HVAC, and a Comand infotainment system with sat-nav, which is plugged into a Harman Cardon audio system. The whole interior is trimmed with black leather and carbon.
