Not that long ago, Brabus unveiled a particularly extreme take on the Mercedes-AMG SL 63 S E Performance. It has now followed up with a colorful carbon exterior package for the Rocket GTS called Deep Blue, priced just under €60,000.
The German aftermarket specialist has replaced multiple body panels with custom ones fabricated from prepreg carbon fiber. Blue carbon strands were woven organically into the material in order to preserve its unique texture, something that wouldn’t be possible with a layer of paint or a vinyl wrap. All parts were meticulously designed in CAD software and tested in a wind tunnel for efficiency.
To complement the new look, Brabus replaced the OEM wheels with its exclusive Monoblock P Platinum Edition rims sized 21 inches large at the front and 22 inches at the rear end. As a result, the whole car dropped below 2,320 kilograms (5,115 pounds) of curb weight.
The package is available for the tuner’s Rocket GTS car priced around €1,000,000. It features an engine bored out from 4 to 4.4 liters and boosted to 796 PS (785 hp / 585 kW). An electric motor supplies the remaining 204 PS (201 hp / 150 kW) to achieve 1,000 metric horsepower (986 American hp; 735 kilowatts). The torque peaks at 1,620 Nm (1,195 lb-ft).
Tuned like this, the Mercedes-AMG SL 63 S E Performance launches to 100 km/h (62 mph) in neck-snapping 2.6 seconds and to 200 km/h (124 mph) in 9.5 seconds.
