Low-mileage Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren goes on sale

This 2008 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren soft top is far from perfect condition, but the bidding has already climbed as high as $300,000 with a week remaining. Only 2,157 SLR McLaren vehicles was made, and this particular one has under 6,000 km (3,700 miles) on the odometer.

The original buyer paid $513,000 for the silver supercar with a black leather and carbon fiber interior. An electric drive automatically folds the black top in just 10 seconds. Back when the roadster hit the market, Mercedes claimed the drive and the passengers could still talk to and hear each other while going 200 km/h (125 mph) with the top folded down.

Like its coupe counterpart, the car draws its power from a 5.4-liter V8 rated at 626 PS (617 hp / 460 kW) and 780 Nm (575 lb-ft) of torque. A five-speed transmission conveys the power to the wheels. Due to a heavy roof mechanism and other reinforcements, the car maxes out at 332 km/h (206 mph), a touch below the coupe’s 334 km/h (207.5 mph).

Despite the low mileage, the front and rear wheels have chips and dents on them, and there is a visible spot on the driver’s seat. The previous owner of the car had its brakes and door mechanisms repaired as well.
