Man in Florida selling a homemade Bugatti Veyron replica for 1/20 of the original hypercar cost

A man in Florida, USA, is currently selling a painstakingly crafted, road-legal replica of the 2012 Bugatti Veyron hypercar. The asking price is a whopping U.S. $125,000, which is still twenty times as cheap as the real thing.

Apparently, a 2002 Mercury Cougar provides the basis for the conversion. The car comes powered by a V-shaped six-cylinder engine with 2.5 liters of displacement room and 170 hp (127 kW) at its disposal. To put things into perspective, the French luxury ride packs an eight-liter W16 monster engine rated at 1,200 hp (895 kW).

It has to be said that the replica makes its best effort to look genuine. Its headlights and taillights, as well as the air intakes look indistinguishable from those of its source of inspiration, and it even features a pop-up rear wing. Too bad these go side by side with glaringly obvious welding seams, cheap-o wheels, and no visual carbon in sight.

Supposing you had the money, would you buy this wannabe Bugatti Veyron or give it a pass?
