The 1968 Mercury Cougar coupe is still considered an icon of automotive craftsmanship, just as the Ford Coyote V8 released ten years ago is considered an ideal crate engine for restomod swaps. No wonder the two found each other in this spectacular project.
Responsible for the job is Ringbrothers, a tuner and restorer from Wisconsin. The car uses a 5.0-liter Coyote mill boosted to 466 PS (460 hp / 343 kW) to drive the wheels through a 10-speed Raptor automatic transmission. Changed elements also include the entire transmission tunnel, the exhaust system, suspension, and brakes.
Exterior modifications include a newly chromed front bumper, a redesigned front grille and three-piece HRE Series C1 forged wheels. A dark-green body finish matches both the bronze spokes and the light brown leather in the cabin perfectly.
The Coyogar had been intended for SEMA 2021 premiere, and while the new reveal date remains unknown, you can already order some of its constituent parts through the tuner’s official website.
