MG, a British car marque currently owned by Chinese SAIC Group, has confirmed working on a new battery-powered car for Europe and, first of all, for the UK.
It should debut in the fourth quarter of 2022 as a wallet-friendly and compact model – although not as small as the Volkswagen ID.3. At 4.3 meters (168 inches) long, it will be around 40 mm (1.6 in) longer than the ID.3.
There has been no word about pricing yet, but the post comes with a hashtag “MGElectricforALL”, which seems like a clear hint that everyone should be able to afford it.
The other parameters also stay undisclosed. Autocar believes it is going to be a hatchback with vivid and catchy styling and MG 5 tech underneath. The MG 5 uses a single electric motor with 156 PS (152 hp / 114 kW) and 260 Nm (192 lb-ft) of torque. It needs 7.3 seconds to reach 97 km/h (60 miles per hour) and gets around 400 kilometers (248 miles) of range from its 61.1-kWh traction battery.
