MG 07 EV liftback spins off a hybrid variant two weeks after launch

MG only announced its 07 electric liftback a couple of weeks ago, and it has now received a range-extender option in China.

The five-door car still looks the same (see video) with C-shaped headlight units, frameless doors and a solid LED strip for the taillights. The exterior dimensions are 4,886 x 1,900 x 1,485 millimeters (192.4 x 74.8 x 58.5 inches) with 2,825 mm between the axles (111.2 inches).

Power for the wheels comes from a single front-mounted electric motor rated at 207 PS (204 hp / 155 kW). A petrol engine makes 112 PS (110 hp / 82 kW) functioning as a range extender. The battery comes from CATL and holds 30 kWh of energy.

Outfitted like this, the new MG 07 EREV sprints from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 7.5 seconds and can reach 170 km/h (125 mph). Once fully charged, it can cover 245 km (152 miles) in all-electric mode or up to 1,745 km (1,084 miles) in hybrid mode.

The base trim features a panoramic roof, 18-inch wheels, an 8.88-inch digital dash screen and a 15.6-inch infotainment system display. The front seats come with heating, ventilation and massage features included as standard, and there is an eight-channel audio system in the spec. Paying for the top trim unlocks stuff like 19-inch wheels, intelligent adaptive suspension and an extensive ADAS package from Momenta complete with a LiDAR.

Prices are pending. The MG 07 EV is expected to cost 125,900 CNY (18,660 USD) when it reaches the showrooms in the coming weeks.
