Chinese car wins popularity contest in Spain

MG ZS, a China-made compact CUV, became the single most demanded car in Spain last December, leaving behind all of Europe’s traditional bestsellers, Carscoops reports.

The once-British, now-Chinese MG brand has managed to find 2,563 buyers for the ZS crossover in the final month of 2023. Some of them opted for the €14,700+ petrol version while others preferred the €22,500 EV.

The Renault Clio has risen in popularity by a cool 57% compared to December 2022, but still landed on the second place with 2,360 units sold. The Dacia Sandero took an 11% hit year-to-year and dropped to the third place with 2,289 units sold in Spain.

Aside from these, the country’s top-10 list of best-selling cars included Hyundai Tucson, Toyota Corolla, Volkswagen T-Roc, Nissan Qashqai, Peugeot 2008, Renault Captur, and Dacia Duster. You may have noticed that the national vehicle brand – Seat – idn’t even make the list.
