Video: MINI’s first EV tugging a 330,000-lb Boeing 777F

Car manufacturer MINI just released sensational footage featuring a test mule of its first all-electric hatchback towing a Boeing 777F. The air freighter weighs in at a whopping 150 metric tons (330,000 lbs), the company mentions.

The extreme challenge took place at the Frankfurt International Airport (FRA) in Germany, with Lufthansa AG sponsoring the event.

Interestingly, the plane that the hatchback drags along the runway is the same as the one BMW boarded last year to premiere the iNext EV.

Based on the recently made spy shots of the Cooper S E in its final production form, the car is largely identical to the MINI Electric Concept. Similarities include the same kind of aluminum wheels, solid faux front grille with yellow inserts, and a charger port located on the right side.

It is generally expected that the battery-powered MINI hatchback will get the same engine as the BMW i3S. Rated at 184 hp (137 kW) and 270 Nm (200 lb×ft), it links to a 44 kWh battery for 270 kilometers (168 miles) of uninterrupted driving once fully charged.
