Mini Vision Urbanaut becomes real, reveals cabin

Mini showed us sketches of a design study called the Vision Urbanaut last November, and now, the car was implemented as a full-size metallic mockup. Let’s have a look at its main feature: the ‘smart’ cabin layout.

The futuristic concept offers three modes that you can switch between, named Chill, Vibe, and Wanderlust. Picking one changes the way the exterior and the cabin look and turns on music. Chill is used for spending time in a parked car. Vibe turns on the displays and intricate ambient lighting to turn the interior into an entertainment center. Wanderlust is for driving around.

The steering wheel and pedals are hidden by default, and you need to push a button to extend them. The infotainment system uses geolocation to tell everyone inside the car about any major landmarks and points of interest nearby. The entire trim is produced from recyclable materials, including special synthetic weave and corkwood panels.

According to the design team behind the project, the vehicle can already be driven. Out of all the technical parameters, the only thing we know is its body length, which amounts to 4.46 meters, or 14.63 feet.
