All-electric Mini Cooper S E gets spotted without clothes

Car spotters have managed to obtain a few shots of MINI’s first all-electric car as it posed for an ad shoot in the USA, completely free of its usual test mule mascara. The official premiere will take place sometime later in 2019.

Based on the spy shots, the EV hasn’t strayed too far from the MINI Electric Concept, which debuted two years ago, in terms of overall design. There is the same solid-looking front grille with ornamental yellow inserts, aluminum wheels, and charger port in the right side.

That notwithstanding, the production vehicle is not a complete copy of its prototype. For one, it is notably lacking a number of 3D-printed aerodynamic parts that the concept car had.

According to rumors, the Mini Cooper S E will get the same powertrain as the BMW i3S, rated at 184 hp (137 kW) and 270 Nm (200 lb×ft) of torque. It will consist of a single electric motor connected to a 44 kWh battery for up to 270 kilometers (168 miles) of WLTP-rated driving range.
