2021 Mini Cooper 5-Door Hatchback due out in March

MINI has confirmed that the facelifted Cooper 5-door hatchback will make it to the showroom floors next month. Here are the principal changes.

Overall, the car receives the same range of updates as its peers, including new fender meshes, 17 and 18-inch wheels, the optional Multitone Roof (three colors for your vehicle top), and a front bumper that no longer has any anti-fog lights. The main headlights now have a dedicated Fog Mode instead.

Inside, the steering wheel and the air vents have been redesigned, and you can order a heated wheel for a premium. An 8.8-inch touchscreen display and LED lighting comes standard, with the brake light patterns imitating the Union Jack.

The five-door car is 160 mm (6.25 inches) longer than the three-door one and has 72 mm (2.8 inches) of extra wheelbase. It offers 278 liters (9.8 cubic feet) of trunk space by default, but folding down the second seat row expands it to 941 liters (33.2 cubic feet).

Powering the Mini Cooper series is a 1.5-liter, three-cylinder turbo engine available in 75, 102 and 136 PS versions (75, 100 and 134 hp; 55, 75 and 100 kW, respectively). The Cooper S makes an exception with its 2.0-liter turbo-four unit capable of 178 PS (176 hp / 131 kW). You can choose between six-speed manual and seven-speed dual-clutch for the transmission.
