AC Schnitzer puts some polish on the Mini LCI II

When it launched the open-topped LCI II. model based on the classical Mini F56/57 design, the British automaker must have trusted the formula ‘don’t fix it unless broken’. AC Schnitzer goes the same way with its tuning program for the convertible, which is far from brave or experimental.

For starters, the German tuner offers an ECU remap for the stock engine that should lift the output from 231 PS (228 hp / 170 kW) to 265 PS (261 hp / 195 kW) while keeping the warranty. Those who feel like it may opt for a new sports exhaust system with tips available in chrome, carbon fiber, and black finishes.

Light AC1 alloys go inside the arches, and the suspension loses between 20 and 30 mm (0.8”-1.2”) of its height at the front and between 25 and 35 mm (1”-1.4”) in the back thanks to new springs. A redesigned radiator grille, a front splitter and a few other body kit pieces further contribute to a sporty look and stance.

Interior upgrades boil down to the usual fare – purely aesthetic tweaks like aluminum pedal pads and other details.

Prices should be announced soon.
