Mini Cooper RWD V8 crashes Goodwood party

Mini Coopers are primarily known and valued for their steering dynamics and kart-like handling. Powerflex wants to prove to us all that these qualities can be improved even further.

This Cooper is currently on display at the Goodwood Festival of Speed with an eight-banger under the hood and rear-wheel drive. The British team of talented tuners spent four years perfecting the build.

Found in the engine bay is a BMW S65 four-liter unit rated at 420 PS (414 hp / 309 kW). Squeezing such a huge engine under the hood of a compact designed to hold a transversely mounted four-pot is a daunting task and then some – but the company managed it after repositioning most of the internals.

Remarkably enough, the Mini remains a perfect sleeper car on the outside, unless you count the flared fenders and the playful ‘Vini’ badge. The cabin is a different story, however, what with the roll cage and the bucket seats with four-point safety harnesses. Most of the equipment has been stripped, so the car weighs in at roughly 1,300 kilos (2,866 lbs).
