New Mini hatchback crops up on official spy shots

MINI has shared photos of its camouflaged new Cooper, a compact three-door hatchback that should reach production in a few years. Different powertrains are expected on the lineup, including traditional ICE-based, but the car shown here is electric.

Based on the images, it looks like the hatchback retains the trademark Mini outlines while becoming a bit more aerodynamic. The lighting and the interior are probably new, but the tech may as well go unchanged from the previous generation shown in the attached video.

The cabriolet version is expected to make it back to the lineup, while the five-door hatchback variant may as well disappear from the market. In addition to the standard modifications, a power-boosted Mini JCW should also be available, although it may become the marque’s last performance model with an ICE engine: Mini envisions a complete switch to electric power before 2030.
