Mini is a car marque begging to be electrified. While sports cars can be tricky to switch to battery power due to weight, balance and aesthetic issues, urban hatchbacks take well to such modifications. Case in point: a 1994 Mini Cooper by Electrogenic.
The same tuner brought us electromods based on the Citroen DS, the Jaguar E-Type and even the Porsche 356. This Mini now joins the family with a Hyper 9 engine driving the wheels with 120 PS (118 hp / 88 kW) and 235 Nm (173 lb-ft) of torque. Unlike in most cases, it is not a direct-drive build, so the driver gets to switch gears of a five-speed manual gearbox. The range maxes out at 130 km (80 miles).
Consider one important detail before you proclaim the powertrain rubbish. This particular Cooper was built for a city tour organizer often taking tourists to downtown London. With this in mind, the company explicitly asked the tuner to dial the power down to 60 PS (60 hp / 45 kW), because it did not need any more on the narrow and crowded streets of the UK capital.
The hatchback boasts a complete restoration and looks almost new on the outside and inside. Pricing details have not been mentioned.
