New MINI Cooper EV specs revealed

MINI has published the technical parameters of the Cooper EV, which will be released in two main flavors after its standard counterpart. Compared to the current Cooper SE model shown in the video here, it will offer more power and range. The production is set to begin in Leipzig in November this year.

In its most affordable spec, the Cooper E will keep the 184-PS (181-hp / 135-kW) engine but get a larger 40.7-kWh traction battery instead of the usual 32.6-kWh one. The next spec – the five-door Cooper SE – will get 218 PS (215 hp / 160 kW) and 54.2 kWh of battery juice. The three-door version is estimated at 300–400 km (186–248 miles) of driving range, while the SE is expected to cover as little as 235 km (146 miles).

Despite the impending generational change, the current SE model continues to enjoy brisk sales. It is the marque’s most demanded car right now with a year-on-year popularity increase of 25% and more than 43,000 units sold in 2022. MINI comments on these stats by saying that its future EVs will sell even better.
