The recently introduced new generation of the MINI Cooper (see the gallery and the video below) will get its traditional JCW version, which will be obtainable with a combustion engine and an electric motor.
The corresponding statement was made by MINI Product executive, Stefan Floeck, who added that the petrol car is due out in 2024 and the battery one should follow in 2025. They are expected to receive different technical platforms, but have similar specifications. Still, according to Floeck, the handling and the driving experience will differ significantly from one to the other.
The new EV platform designed for MINI enables putting individual motors on each axle, which implies that the JCW EV might get an all-wheel drive. However, Floeck warned the there was still no conclusive decision on whether to release a two-motor version.
