Car manufacturers have long switched to making crossovers and pickup trucks, leaving smaller cars to their fate. However, we still have gems like the Toyota GR86 and the Mazda MX-5 Miata running around. A recent video compares the two on the drag strip, and Mini Cooper SE barges in to ruin everyone’s mood.
Powering the GR86 is a 2.4-liter flat engine rated at 231 PS (228 hp / 170 kW) and 249 Nm (182 lb-ft) of torque. In turn, the Mazda makes do with a smaller inline-four unit capable of 182 PS (179 hp / 134 kW) and 204 Nm (150 lb-ft) of torque.
The three-door Mini hatchback is as compact as its rivals, but much more practical thanks to its body design. Running on pure electric power, it resembles the Miata, but produces more torque than the GR86 and gets it all straight from the start, which is something you cannot say about any ICE engine out there.
Make sure you watch the entire video, because a tame city hatchback wiping the floor with sports cars is not something you will see every day.
