Mini isn’t basically your go-to car manufacturer when it comes to camping accessories, but it just launched roof tents for the Countryman All4 PHEV and the all-electric Cooper SE.
Granted, the tents aren’t the most spacious ones around, but neither do they require a trailer or a roof extension to work. Mounted on the rails, they can be raised automatically thanks to spring-loaded gas cylinders.
Entering and leaving the tent is made easy by a folding stepladder with eight steps. The tent itself can accommodate two people, and there are windows with mosquito nets on them for all your ventilation needs. The option is already listed in the official parts catalog.
Other than that, both cars offer enough free room to use them for an occasional wilderness trip. The Cooper SE has 211 liters of trunk space (7.45 cubic feet) that you can expand to 731 l (25.8 cu. ft.) when needed. The larger Countryman model offers 405 liters (14.3 cu. ft.) of luggage room expandable to 1,275 l (45 cu. ft.).
