3rd-gen Mini Countryman gets caught on camera

The Mini Countryman is getting ready to transition into a new generation, and the latest spy video treats us to a close-up view of a lightly cladded JCW version (judging by the tailpipes).

The author of the footage takes care to follow the crossover SUV in traffic, catching up with its in traffic jams and at traffic lights. Whenever it stops, you can clearly see a production-ready body with only the taillights sticking out like something that could use more work.

No information has leakes so far regarding the powertrains. Rumor has it there will be a hybrid modification with 322 PS (318 hp / 237 kW) at its disposal. A 14.2-kWh battery should give it around 90 km (56 miles) of all-electric range. As for the standard three- and four-cylinder options, they will probably be available as well, but not without a 48V starter-generator.
