The 2027 Mini Countryman Untamed Edition will be available in both gasoline and electric vehicle versions. This model includes a 0.6-inch suspension lift, Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus tires, and specific 19-inch wheels. The ground clearance for the gasoline model is 8.75 inches. Mini has also adjusted the ABS, stability control, and electrically assisted steering for mild off-road use, and improved both approach and departure angles. The interior features exclusive blue sport seats.
Mini executives indicated that the Countryman Untamed is designed for weekend adventurers rather than dedicated off-roaders, which explains its modest suspension lift and unchanged drivetrain. The 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine in the Countryman S All4 Untamed Edition produces 241 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. The vehicle offers multiple drive modes, including Go-Kart, Core, Green, Vivid, Timeless, Personal, Balance, and Trail.
To mitigate the typical issues of lift kits and all-terrain tires on asphalt, Mini elongated the strut instead of using taller springs. This design reportedly results in a firm ride and confident handling. The Pirelli all-terrain tires are also said to not cause excessive noise in the cabin. A noticeable difference from the standard Countryman S is a taller seating position.
During testing, the lifted crossover demonstrated capability on trails, with the 8.75 inches of ground clearance proving sufficient for divots. The traction control system was observed to work on slippery surfaces by braking individual wheels and adjusting torque. However, the system's intervention, particularly the inability to fully disable stability control in Trail mode, was noted as a limitation.
