Mini Coupe gets turned into a track toy on Barracuda wheels

OctaneFactory and Barracuda Racing Wheels have joined efforts to build a one-off Mini JCW coupe for the racetrack. The car received new wheels, tires, racing-grade brakes and other mechanical mods.

Starting with the most obvious part, the car now rides on a set of 18-inch Barracuda Summa wheels wrapped in Kumho semi-slicks. One rim weighs in at just 7.2 kg (15.9 lbs) and helps keep the unsprung mass down. Öhlins coilovers make the suspension height-adjustable, and a Wavetrac diff lock helps with the handling.

The stock 1.6-liter turbo four-pot continues its work under the hood, but is also a far cry from stock. With a new turbocharger, intercooler, pistons and connecting rods, and a completely overhauled exhaust system, it pumps out a solid 300 PS (296 hp / 221 kW) to the wheels along with 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque. The transmission is six-speed manual and features a twin-disc clutch.

Rounding off the project is a major interior makeover with an added roll cage by Heigo. Oh, and the body is wrapped in a chameleon wrap changing its hue based on the light angle.
