The Mini 3-Door will be transitioning into its fifth generation in 2023, but in the meantime, the BMW-owned car marque arranged a preview of it in Sweden. A camouflaged prototype EV was put next to four of its predecessors, letting us see for ourselves how the model evolved.
Clad in trademark yellow camo, the all-electric Mini was brought to the BMW Group testing HQ in Lapland to have its main units and components checked under low temperature conditions, and its chassis and handling tuned to perfection before launch.
The company claims that the next-gen Mini Hatch will still feel like a sports car, and those who would rather opt for a more pragmatically inclined vehicle may buy the much larger Countryman model.
A look inside the cabin reveals a huge rounded touchscreen display meant to serve as the infotainment screen and at the same time provide easy access to most HVAC controls, too. It also doubles as a dashboard. A heads-up display sits just behind the steering wheel.
The fully electric Mini Hatch will not arrive at the market until the second half of 2023.
