Mini may be planning to become an all-electric car brand by 2030, but it still makes ICE cars at this point, and one such has been recently spied on the street.
According to the manufacturer, the new Mini 3-Door Hatch is due out in ICE and full-on electric flavors, but the car featured in the gallery here runs on gasoline. It wears the company’s signature yellow and black camo, but still stands out too much not to recognize it.
As you can see, the next-gen Mini keeps most of the design traits of the current generation (see video), including round headlights and square taillights. The electric one, on the other hand, is shaping up to be a different car altogether.
From the technical point of view, the car is based on a platform named UKL2, which represents a major redesign of the current UKL1 architecture. It comes with a wider track, longer wheelbase, larger wheels, and new technologies.
Rumor has it the Ice-powered Mini 3-Door Hatch will ship with three- and four-cylinder turbocharged engines. The reveal is expected to take place later in the year.
