Japanese media keep reporting that Mitsubishi will launch an all-electric coupe-like SUV in 2021, which will be based on the e-Evolution Concept featured in our gallery and the video here.
It remains to be officially confirmed whether the car is indeed coming up and whether it is called Evolution. It makes sense for it to be inspired by the eponymous show car from three years ago, but the roof inclination is likely going to be less pronounced. The missing b-pillars will probably be added, and the rear doors will swing open like normal doors do.
The design study packed a tri-motor setup with a single motor driving the front axle and the remaining two the rear axle. This may change in the production car, which will likely wind up with a powertrain similar to the Nissan Ariya CMF-EV. In its top guise, the Ariya Performance has 400 PS (394 hp / 294 kW) at its disposal along with 600 Nm (443 lb-ft) of peak torque. It needs 5.1 seconds to get from standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph).
Sales will begin next autumn, the sources claim.
