Reports: Next Mitsubishi ASX to switch to a Renault platform

Mitsubishi is working on another generation of its ASX compact CUV, and Auto.cz claims that the old model is no longer in production and has been pulled from the company’s official website in the Czech Republic.

The Drive (Australia) believes that the next-gen soft-roader will be based on the Renault Captur platform when it reaches the market in early 2023. The premiere should therefore take place in 2022.

A representative of Mitsubishi in the Czech Republic apparently told the media that the ASX was de-listed because it was out of stock on the national market with no new production taking place. The next generation will take no less than a year and a half to arrive.

The new ASX will allegedly be closely related to the Renault Captur, simplifying its certification process in Europe and cutting development costs. A Renault factory will produce it alongside Renault vehicles. However, we are told that it will not be badge-engineered thanks to a distinctive exterior design leaning on the latest Eclipse Cross or Outlander.
