Next-gen Mitsubishi ASX presents engine lineup and specs

The Mitsubishi ASX is one of the Japanese marque’s longer-lived cars, and it is transitioning into its next generation in 2023. In the meantime, here are its official engine specifications.

In the most affordable form, the crossover SUV ships with a gasoline three-cylinder engine rated at 91 PS (90 hp / 67 kW). This mill works exclusively with a six-speed manual transmission.

Next up the list is a 1.3-liter four-pot obtainable with a manual (140 PS / 138 hp / 103 kW) or dual-clutch automatic (158 PS / 156 hp / 115 kW) transmission. As an alternative, you could consider a mild-hybrid system with 145 PS (143 hp / 107 kW) at its disposal.

Topping the range is a PHEV that combines a 1.6-liter engine with dual electric motors and a 10.5-kWh traction battery for a total of 160 PS (158 hp / 118 kW).

If the numbers sound suspiciously familiar, that is because the Renault Captur comes with the same exact lineup of powertrain options. The new ASX shares the platform with the Captur, so there is little surprise here.
