Mitsubishi will attend the Tokyo Auto Salon starting on January 11, 2019 with an updated version of its Delica D:5 MPV, as well as special editions of its Outlander PHEV and Eclipse Cross SUVs.
Contrary to our expectations, the Delica update we will be seeing in Tokyo is a facelift, rather than a new generation. The minivan gets a revised design while keeping most of its tech intact. The only notable changes are a new exhaust air filtration system and an eight-speed automatic transmission instead of the old six-speed one.
There will also be a special off-road edition of the Delica D:5. Compared to the main series, it will boast unpainted bumpers, tubular access steps, protective side bodywork, red mud guards, an under shield, an expedition rack and a roof-mounted LED light bar. Despite the ‘off-road’ badge slapped on it, the series will likely retain its drivetrain without changes.
As for the Outlander PHEV and the Eclipse Cross, both utility vehicles will become available in a new Street Sport trim. This will include a Glossy Titanium paintjob, yellow body accents, 20-inch wheels, a spoiler, and blacked-out rear window and taillights.
