When Mitsubishi celebrated the premiere of its refreshed D:5 Delica minivan in 2018, it inadvertently attracted attention from drivers all around the world, not just Japan, thanks to AWD and other nice features. But it has not yet been released anywhere else, including the USA, and it now looks like the day may never come.
Speaking in an interview, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corp. (MMPC) Executive VP Takanobu Suzuki mentioned that the company intended to produce the Delica exclusively in right-hand-drive configuration. It was, indeed, considering releasing it in countries where the demand is high, but those would have to be countries with left-hand traffic.
“The Mitsubishi Delica D:5 is being exported in limited quantities to such markets as Thailand, where it is used as a service vehicle by international companies.”
Based on the above, it seems very unlikely that the left-hand-drive Delica ever makes it into production.
