Japanese car manufacturer Mitsubishi has revealed Cross T1, a special edition if its Eclipse Cross SUV built exclusively for the upcoming Rally Dakar. The new vehicle comes as a replacement for the Mitsubishi Pajero rally car.
The Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross T1 features a tubular spaceframe made of high-tensile steel and a body made of carbon. It rides on four individually adjustable Ohlins shock absorbers and takes advantage of high-performance AP Racing brakes.
The engine bay of the car holds a turbocharged diesel unit rated at 340 horsepower (254 kW) and an impressive 686 Nm (506 pound-feet) of torque. The engine works in tandem with a six-speed sequential transmission.
Racing driver Christina Gutierrez and co-pilot Pablo Moreno Huete will pilot the car during the almost 5,000-kilometer long race of 2019 Rally Dakar.
