2021 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross tech specs revealed

Mitsubishi has released the main specifications of its updated Eclipse Cross SUV. Sales will soon begin in Australia and New Zealand, followed later by Japan and the United States.

At 4,545 mm (14.91 ft.) long, the refreshed model is 140 mm (5.5”) longer than before while having 175 mm (6.8”) of ground clearance. The width, height and wheelbase stay unchanged at 1,805, 1,685 and 2,670 mm, respectively (5.92, 5.53 and 8.76 ft.). The overhangs have become larger, slightly affecting the angles of approach, departure and ramp. These now amount to 18.2°, 27.9° and 18°, respectively, which is 2.1°, 2.9° and 1.5° less than before.

The minimum trunk size grew 18% to 405 liters (14.3 cubic feet). The maximum size now amounts to 1,172 liters (41.4 cubic feet) without sunroof or 1,149 liters (40.6 cubic feet) with one installed.

The model still relies on its old 1.5-liter turbo-four engine good for 150 PS (148 hp / 110 kW) and 250 Nm (183 lb-ft) of torque to propel it forward. A CVT box sends the torque to either the front wheels or all four (S-AWC). Customers in Japan can also opt for a hybrid version with so far undisclosed specs, even though pre-ordering is already an option.

Tech-wise, the TomTom navigation system supports an offline mode powered by what3words tech. The heads-up display projects a colorful image onto an eight-inch glass screen located above the dashboard. Audio is provided by the Mitsubishi Power Sound System, which consists of eight speakers and a 510W amplifier.
