Mitsubishi has used the ongoing Bangkok Motor Show as an opportunity to unveil the Triton Absolute Concept, a utility version of its L200/Triton pickup truck. If the concept garners enough positive feedback, the company will consider launching it into production.
Compared to the donor vehicle, The Mitsubishi Triton Absolute Concept sports a carbon-fiber body, 50 mm (2 inches) of added clearance (total: 270 mm / 10.5 inches), stiffer shock absorbers, wider wheel spacing, new wheels clad in off-road tires, under shields, and LED-based lighting.
The roof and the truck bed of the pickup have also been fitted with hand grips for easier access.
In all probability, the car will ship with the engine palette of the original Triton/L200. This includes a 2.4-liter turbo diesel rated at 181 hp (135 kW) and a 2.4-liter naturally aspirated gas engine producing 128 hp (95 kW). Transmission choices will likely be limited to six-speed manual and automatic.
