The latest generation of the Mitsubishi L200/Triton was only launched in late July this year, but the automaker believes it could use a few improvements in the coming months.
The corresponding statement was made by Yoshiki Masuda, Chief Product Specialist at Mitsubishi Motors, in his interview to CarExpect. He said the pickup could use more driving assists, but in order to add them, the company would first have to modify its design. Among other things, the rear brakes would need upgrading from drums to rotors.
Unlike most of its competitors, Mitsubishi still equips its Triton trucks with analog instruments. Furthermore, you cannot even get one for a premium. The Japanese brand’s other vehicles come with an optional 12.3-inch display, so it would make sense for the Triton to follow suit.
The next scheduled facelift for the model is going to happen in 4-5 years, but the company is actively considering implementing the changes mentioned above as soon as possible for the L200 to stay competitive.
