Video: This insane Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X revs up to 10k RPM

Japanese automaker Mitsubishi put its Lancer Evolution lineup to rest a while ago, but devoted Lancer fans continue to tune their rides to outstanding results.

This specific Evo X has been undergoing constant modification since 2014. The owner had originally intended to get it up to 350 horsepower (355 PS / 261 kW), but felt that it was too easy and went for progressively more complex changes.

The centerpiece of the tuning comes in the form of a high-end turbocharger 3 inches (76 mm) in diameter, which maintains a stable boost pressure of 55 PSI – no small feat. In order to keep the rest of the drivetrain stable, a number of components had to be replaced including the intercooler, the valve springs, the pistons, the camshafts, and the connecting roads. A six-range sequential transmission with a three-plate clutch conveys the momentum to all four wheels.
