Elderly Lancer Evo fetches a record sum

We have already reported Mitsubishi’s intentions to shut down its UK headquarters and sell its entire car collection at an auction. This Lancer Evolution VI Tommi Makinen Edition just went under the hammer for a record-breaking £100,100.

This is £1,100 more than the previous most expensive auction sell. A downsized replica of the marque’s first vehicle ever – the 1917 Model A – also set a new high, going for a whopping £13,700. Other highlights included £21,100 for a 33-year-old Starion coupe and £24,500 for a 29-year-old 3000GT.

14 vehicles have been auctioned off in total, including four Lancers of different generations. This quartet alone brought the seller 60% of the total profit, which made £479,500, according to reports.

The Japanese automaker will cease to offer its cars in the UK later this year, but service centers will continue to be available to owners.

In related news, a 2002 Nissan Skyline GT-R M-Spec Nür fetched a record U.S. $313,400 last fall.
