Mitsubishi Outlander goes black in Russia

Not even the elderly Outlander could escape the latest blackout craze: the SUV will be receiving a Black Edition version in Russia.

Contrary to what its name may suggest, the car can alternatively be obtained in pearlescent white. A number of elements will stay black in both cases, including the 18-inch wheels, radiator grille, bumper moldings, mirror caps, roof railings, body kit details, and Dark Chrome tailgate garnishes.

The entire upper half of the cabin is also pure black, while the doors and the front panel boast carbon fiber décor. Seats benefit from combination upholstery, and there is red stitching on the dashboard visor, steering wheel and armrests.

The dark series only ships in Invite and Intense+ trim levels with a 2.0L engine under the hood and all-wheel drive. The Invite trim additionally gets chrome-coated inner handles, side airbags, safety curtains and a special airbag to protect the driver’s knees.

The Mitsubishi Outlander Black Edition will be hitting the showrooms in Russia on September 1, 2020. Other than that, the next generation of the SUV has repeatedly been spotted during road tests. Whether it will ever make it to the market in Europe remains open, though.
