The Japanese marque is planning to launch a proper performance car under the revived Ralliart badge, BestCarWeb reports citing an insider source. It will allegedly debut in 2024 as an Outlander version with improved chassis and other tweaks.
Lately, Mitsubishi has only been putting the ‘Ralliart’ badge on purely visual makeovers with no added power or functionality, much to the disappointment of the fans. It would be interesting to see that trend change.
According to the sources, the new Outlander PHEV Ralliart is envisioned as a plug-in hybrid based on a 2.4-liter petrol engine with 290 PS (286 hp / 214 kW) of combined output. The SUV available today can also be obtained with the same engine plus one or two electric motors, but the combined output does not exceed 148 or 248 PS (146 or 245 hp; 109 or 182 kW), depending on the motor count.
According to the sources, the Outlander Ralliart will also feature a stiffer body, upgraded suspension with sportier settings and a body kit. In all likelihood, it will resemble the Vision Ralliart concept car shown in the gallery below. That one debuted slightly over a year ago and had wider wheel arches, new bumpers and 22-inch wheels, among other things.
