A rare Mitsubishi Pajero Evolution crops up on sale Down Under

A 25-year-old Mitsubishi Pajero Evolution, one of around 2,500 homologation examples produced for the Paris-Dakar Rally, is up for haggling in Brisbane, Australia right now.

Most off-roaders were delivered in red, but some were silver and a few were white, like this one. Despite having 180,700 km (~112,300 miles) on the odo, the vehicle is expected to sell for 65,000-75,000 AUD.

It is a second-generation Pajero with a number of stylistic and functional modifications. Among other things, it runs on an original multi-link rear suspension and has Torsen differentials on both axles. A 3.5-liter V6 links to an automatic transmission and drives all four wheels with 280 PS (276 hp / 206 kW). Sprinting from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) takes 8.1 seconds.

The Pajero Evolution series was only offered in three-door body design with special bumpers, flared fenders, a ventilated hood, a couple of spoilers in the back, and 16-inch wheels shod in all-terrain tires. There is also some underbody protection here, and the approach/departure/ramp angles are said to be better than in the original.

This particular example was brought to Australia from Japan three years ago. Most of its mileage comes from Japanese roads, and the seller claims it is in excellent condition.
