Crazy: Lamborghini fan prints an Aventador using a 3D printer

The Lambo Aventador you see before you has mostly been created using a 3D printer. Even more impressively, it isn’t just a replica, but a full-fledged car with high-end specs.

A physicist by education but a tuner at heart, Sterling Backus and his son started working on the AXAS Interceptor project a year and a half ago. Backus had hoped to keep the  budget down to U.S. $20,000 – a considerable sum of money, perhaps, but hardly noticeable against the cost of the real Aventador ($335,000+). He ended up investing over $40,000, though, buying over 200 rolls of thermal plastic, a custom stainless-steel chassis, suspension, and a Porsche 911 (996) transmission.

The unique ride comes powered by a 5.7-liter LS1 V8 of the 2003 Chevrolet Corvette. While not as impressive as the Aventador 6.5 V12, it still does the job exceptionally well.
