Next-gen Renault/Dacia Sandero spotted running tests

The second generation of the Dacia Sandero hatchback has been around since 2012 and received its facelift in 2016. What was spotted on the streets now looks like a brand-new version of the Sandero, based on a new architecture with refreshed looks.

Some of the photos reveal a blue wire coming out of the hood and going into the cabin, likely used for performance measurements. This leads to an assumption that the company is testing a new prototype engine. Inside, there is a much larger display, which implies a new entertainment system.

Renault has previously announced that the new Sandero would switch from the B0 platform to the CMF-B architecture of the latest Clio. The tech will be trimmed down somewhat to keep the car budget-friendly.

The second-gen Dacia Sandero is expected to come powered by 1.0-liter gasoline engines rated between 65 and 100 hp (48.5 – 75 kW) and 1.5-liter diesel ones rated between 85 and 115 hp (63 – 86 kW).

The premiere will most likely occur at the 2020 Geneva IMS next March.
