Chevrolet Blazer for China has 7 seats instead of 5

The Chevrolet SUV lineup in China includes the latest Trailblazer and Tracker, as well as the Equinox, which has been around since 2016. U.S.-born crossover Blazer will be joining the family soon – with a few significant changes.

First and foremost, unlike its North American counterpart (depicted on the video), the Chinese Blazer will offer seats for seven passengers, rather than just five. The wheelbase stays unchanged, but the rear overhang becomes longer. SAIC-GM reports that the newcomer is 4,999 millimeters (16.4 feet) long, 1,953 mm (6.41 ft.) wide and 1,727 mm (5.67 ft.) tall.

Exterior differences between the two boil down to the bumpers, the radiator grille, larger rear door frame and side windows, and restyled badges.

The Chinese Blazer comes to the market with only one available engine: a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder turbo unit rated at 230 hp (172 kW), mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission. The same engine comes rated at 234 hp (175 kW) in the United States and delivers the power to all four wheels. The Blazer RS ships with a non-turbo V6 having 3.6 liters of displacement, 312 hp (233 kW) and 366 Nm (270 pound-feet) at the crank. Its Chinese counterpart will only get the sporty décor, but neither the V6 nor the 4WD.
