Chevy Corvette C2 “Split Window” lives anew thanks to The Roadster Shop

An interesting fact: back in 1963, Chevrolet produced a special variant of its second-gen Corvette sports car, called “Split Window”. It dropped out from production in 1964, but tuners laid their hands on one surviving example and restored it to driving condition.

The Roadster Shop, from Illinois, USA, is responsible for the project. Among other things, the coupe received a brand-new LS3 V8 by Wegner Motor Sports. The engine has been modded for 6.8 liters of displacement and supercharged to deliver up to 817 hp (609 kW) and 1,094 Nm (807 lb-ft) of torque to the wheels via a reinforced automatic transmission.

The suspension and brakes have also been redesigned extensively, and the stock wheels yielded their place to new 19-inch Forgeline rims wrapped in Nitto Drag 345 tires. The list goes on to mention a custom front grille and lights all around. As for the windshield and the rear window, both are bezel-free and seamless in this version of the Corvette C2.

A thorough interior overhaul rounds things off with genuine leather, wash-leather and carbon fiber. There are modern bucket seats with racing harnesses, a new gear selector and a tri-spoke Momo steering wheel.

The unique masterpiece is currently available for purchase and costs U.S. $600,000.
