Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye raises the bar to 797 hp

Two years after the appearance of the Dodge Challenger Redeye, its sedan-shaped sibling – the Charger – gained the same version with the exact same engine.

The manufacturer claims that the Charger Redeye is the fastest and most powerful production sedan in the world – an assessment that obviously does not take into consideration all the small-batch production going on on behalf of tuning companies. Anyway, the 6.2-liter Hellcat V8 the car comes equipped with benefits from updated pistons, connecting rods, valves, supercharger and cooling. Up to 808 PS (797 hp, or 594 kW) hits the redesigned eight-speed auto transmission along with 958 Nm (707 lb-ft) of maximum torque.

As a result, the Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye zaps 0-60 mph (0-97 km/h) in 3.5 seconds and covers a quarter of a mile in 10.6 seconds, hitting 207 km/h (128.6 mph) at the finish line. When the conditions are ideal, it can climb all the way to 327 km/h (203 mph).

The car borrows its adaptive suspension and 400mm (15.4”) brake discs from its junior sibling, the Charger SRT Hellcat. It also boasts a widebody kit that makes it 90 mm (3.5”) broader, a new hood cover with air intakes, 20-inch wheels wrapped in 305/35 ZR20 Pirelli tires, and an odometer gauge that goes as far as 220 mph (354 km/h).

Dodge says it will open the pre-order books for the Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye this fall and start shipping next spring. Prices remain pending.
