BMW claims rights for ‘Silent Shadow’, likely the first Rolls-Royce EV

As you may know, BMW owns the luxury car marque Rolls-Royce. A couple of days ago, the Bavarian company obtained trademark rights for ‘Silent Shadow’, which sounds like the long-anticipated first all-electric car by the British luxury brand.

The company already has a Silver Shadow on the lineup and has been generally known to use the word ‘Shadow’ in its releases throughout the decades. In that case, the adjective ‘Silent’ could be easily interpreted as ‘running on a low-noise electric powertrain’.

It is official that the development of the first battery-powered Rolls-Royce is in full swing – but the company refrains from comment right now. It remains to be seen whether we will be getting a completely new vehicle design or just an overhauled Phantom or Cullinan with built-in BMW electric tech.
