800 km on a charge: Beijing shows off its Radiance Concept

Carmaker Beijing has held a live presentation of its latest-and-greatest design study called Radiance. The vehicle is said to embrace the Beijing 3.0 design philosophy: creating “smarter, healthier and safer cars” for the new generation of drivers.

The design, supposedly, brings together “modesty and energy”, as well as “modernity and tradition”. For its own part, the developer team does not appear anywhere near too modest, bathing the prototype in lavish praise and snazzy catchwords. The design approach is called “the most wonderful”, the exterior “clean and free”, and the cabin “warm and intelligent”. Of the specific characteristics, we know the wheel diameter (24 inches) and the driving range (800 kilometers / 497 miles). Level 4 self-driving tech is also on the list.

The interior of the study references traditional Chinese architecture and furniture, while the omnipresent “smart” surfaces and the dash screen on the steering wheel cater for the “ultra-modern” points.

It remains open when – and if – anything like the Beijing Radiance may enter actual production.
