Beijing Offroad refreshes its Jeep Compass Mk1 fake

Beijing Offroad, which is a part of BAIC Group, has brought its new BJ30 SUV to the Auto China 2020. From the technical point of view, the vehicle is a slightly refurbished BJ20 model (see video), which in turn tries to imitate the first-gen Jeep Compass.

The BJ20 came out five years ago and never rose to any kind of market popularity. It looks like the company now hopes to address that issue by renaming it to BJ30 and slapping the “Offroad” suffix on.

The BJ30 is 4,505 mm long with 2,675 mm of wheelbase. It sports a different radiator grille than before, more normal-looking headlights, fake air intakes in the front bumper, and faux exhaust tips at the rear end.

Powering the SUV is the same old 1.5-liter turbo mill good for 156 hp (116 kW). You can choose between six-speed manual and CVT to drive your front axle, but AWD is not available in any case.

The Beijing Offroad BJ30 should go on sale in October. Prices are still pending.
