Diesel-powered Kia Stinger rides low and exudes coolness

German tuner AMJ-Fahrzeugdesign somehow arrived at the conclusion that the latest Kia Stinger needs a major stylistic overhaul. This is how the magnificent StingAir came to be – a real eye candy, if little else.

For starters, the liftback received an extensive aerodynamic package including a front spoiler lip, side skirts, a ducktail spoiler, a rear diffuser insert, and another rear spoiler. All components are wrapped in body-matching white vinyl with occasional black graphics and color touches. A ceramic coating protects the end result from damage.

The suspension also went through quite a makeover, landing with Bilstein shocks and electronic ride height adjustment. The stock wheels gave way to 20-inch Tomason TN19 rims.

Peek inside to discover localized applications of leather and grey Alcantara. The project is still far from complete, though, so we will be seeing more of both materials there when everything is done.

As snazzy as the StingAir may look, there is no circumventing the fact that it comes powered by its stock EU-spec 2.2-liter diesel turbocharged to deliver 200 hp (149 kW) and 440 Nm (326 lb-ft) of torque. It still needs around 8.5 seconds to reach 100 km/h (60 mph) and maxes out at 225 km/h (140 mph).
