Video: Mercedes-AMG E63 vs. ECU-tuned Audi RS6 Avant

Throttle House has posted a new video on its popular YouTube channel dedicated to a series of drag races between a Mercedes-AMG E63 S (W213) and the latest Audi RS6 Avant (C8). The outcomes are surprising and controversial, to say the least.

The first time around, the two completely stock cars did a standing start, and the Stuttgart sedan left the Ingolstadt family hauler far behind. Perhaps its extra 12 hp and 50 Nm of torque were to thank for this, as well as the fact that it weighed half a metric ton less than the wagon. But even so, we have seen the Avant perform way better than it did here. Next in queue was a rolling start, at which the Avant failed even harder.

Then the Audi driver pulled the metaphorical ace out of his sleeve, installing a Canada-made chip tune on his ride. We are supposed to believe that the software modifications alone raised the power from 600 to 800 PS (592 hp to 789 hp; 441 to 588 kW, respectively), while the torque skyrocketed from 800 to 1,220 Nm (590 – 900 lb-ft).

Frankly speaking, such numbers are unattainable by simple software modifications in the vast majority of cases. We would be more inclined to trust them had it been a 100-hp, 100-Nm boost at most. In other words, we suspect foul play here.

And you?
