Video: Koenigsegg Jesko duo having fun on a runway

Swedish hypercar builder Koenigsegg has shared a video featuring a pair of its Jesko prototypes ‘running pre-production tests’, which apparently included drag racing and drifting for fun.

The Jesko was revealed two years ago and has yet to enter production, even though the entire planned batch of 125 units has been sold out starting from U.S. $4 million each.

Powering the ultimate hypercar is a twin-turbocharged V8 burning regular gasoline for 1,298 PS (1,280 hp / 955 kW). Pour in some bioethanol, and you will get a boost to 1,622 PS (1,600 hp / 1,193 kW). The top speed amounts to 482 km/h, or 300 miles per hour.

Those willing to extract the most thrust out of their Jesko will want the Absolut version with its improved aerodynamics. The Swedish company is aiming at a world speed record among production cars here, but real-world speed tests have yet to begin.

The current title of the world’s fastest production car belongs to the SSC Tuatara, which hit 455.28 km/h (282.9 mph) at the beginning of the year. A Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ prototype reached 490 km/h (304.5 mph) during tests, but its production version never managed the same.
